Spring Tea and Wellness Guide
Teas not only taste great but they can also make life a little better.
When you can find a solution for someone with the right tea, you just gave them a gift that will keep on giving.
I hope this guide helps you find the perfect tea for you or someone you care about!
Trying to Switch from Coffee to Tea:
Drinking coffee has been associated with anxiety, restlessness, and difficulty sleeping, headaches and stomach issues.
Drinking black tea instead of coffee will give you roughly the same amount of caffeine but black tea has other qualities that affect the way that caffeine works in your body. The high levels of an amino acid called L-theanine in tea causes the caffeine to be released more slowly, allowing you to avoid the coffee jitters while still giving your mind an energetic boost. Tea is also beneficial for the digestive tract and helps lower blood pressure- so if these are your main issues with coffee then black tea is good substitute for your morning cup of energy.
Breakfast Buzz is my recommended Coffee replacement black tea. It is made of a blend of 3 deliciously flavorful full leaf organic black teas including a Puerh that has been fermented to benefit digestive health. It can be steeped up to 5 or 6 minutes with little to no bitterness and can be steeped twice using the same leaves for a second cup that has full flavor but much less caffeine overall. Black Tea blends like Oregon Coast Chai or NeahKahNie Fog are also good choices as they have other ingredients blended with the tea and so are less caffeinated per cup than a pure tea.
Reducing Caffeine:
White and Green teas have about a third to half of the caffeine of black tea and are less processed so they offer higher levels of vitamins and minerals. Teas for good energy with lower lower anxiety and restlessness are White Grapefruit, Tulsi Green, Spring Green, Jasmine Green and Lemon Sunshine. These blends mix white or green teas with other ingredients so they have great flavor and less caffeine per cup than a pure tea.
Giving Up all Caffeine:
Herbal teas have no caffeine but provide lots of beneficial nutrients and great flavor. Some of our best selling herbal teas include Heart of Gold, Beach Sunset Chai, Pacificmint Patty and Orange Dreamsicle!
Eating less sugar/ losing weight
When sweet cravings strike, the right tea can help you steer clear of temptation. Often our bodies are craving sweet flavors instead of the calories that come with cookies and ice cream. Our naturally sweet herbal teas such as Pacficmint Patty, Beach Sunset Chai and Elderberry Cobbler use the whole leaf of the dried herb stevia to add sweetness to our blends with zero sugar or calories. Try adding a little cream (coconut or regular) to any of these teas to make the taste even more decadent while still staying sugar free!
Black tea and Green tea are famous in the weight loss industry thanks to high concentrations of EGCG. This tea flavanoid helps increase body temperature and induce faster fat burning. It also encourages the body to reduce fat stores and can improve exercise performance. Try drinking a cup of hot or iced Spring Green or Jasmine Green before a work out to maximize fat burning and to help curb your appetite all day long.
Getting better sleep / Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Probably one of the most requested teas at our market booth was for one that will help with a full nights sleep. Good sleep is the foundation for so much of our health. Many of the same herbs that can benefit sleep are also helpful for stress and anxiety. Milky oats, chamomile, lavender, lemon balm, rose and tulsi- all of which we grow here on our farm. Some of our customer’s favorite blends for better sleep and less stress are Nap & Nourish, Heart of Gold and Blue Enchantmint.
Healing digestion
Belly Bliss is our herbal tea specifically blended to help with the symptoms of IBS, leaky gut and other GI issues. It contains soothing herbs like calendula, marshmallow leaf and mint along with anti bloating spices like with fennel seed and licorice root. Our customers tell us this works wonders when drank on on a regular basis to help heal the gut wall and restore ease to digestion.
Being able to focus /having enough energy
Focusing is hard when the body is stressed or anxiety is clouding the mind. To enhance the ability for the brain to focus we blended Enlightenmint Mate - a yerba mate blend that has nootropic herbs like ginko and gotu kola which directly support memory and clear thinking while yerba mate supplies the body with amino acids, vitamins and boost of caffeine. To have energy while reducing overall stress the combination green tea and the adaptogenic herb tulsi in our Tulsi Green is a great combination. Tulsi (aka holy basil) helps support the adrenal and nervous systems in the body. It also helps regulate our hormones and promotes good sleep and balanced energy levels. Wonderful to drink before a zoom call for work or around that 3pm crash time. I also personally love Spring Green for helping me focus. It has matcha powder, mint, nettles and jasmine green tea. The nettles in that blend are wonderful energetic support of women like me who struggle with iron deficiency.
Respiratory Support/ Covid Long Haul Symptoms
Some of our customers who experienced Covid 19 highly recommend our blend Treasure Chest to others. This herbal tea was blended with Covid 19 in mind back in the spring of 2020. It has a comprehensive blend of herbs that support the lungs and specifically their ability to stay open and not inflamed. This blend is also beneficial for smokers, firefighters or anyone dealing with long term effects of having covid, pneumonia or any kind of internal tissue inflammation- including digestive. The other blend I highly recommend for ongoing immune support during this pandemic is North Coast Immunitea.
