Nurture Pod 31: Lunar Imbolc-Year of the Woodsnake

An auspicious new moon in Aquarius ushers in the year of the Wood Snake. This new moon also marks lunar Imbolc- the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.

Change is in the air and deep in the soil as the Northern Hemisphere begins to awaken from it's winter slumber. Sap runs from root to branch and seeds in the earth begin to stir.

As chaos bubbles in the cauldron of culture, the dance of the Sun, Earth and Moon move gracefully onward towards spring.

In this episode Iris and Ginger talk about the links between our left and right sides of our brain and how they relate to creativity and anxiety- inspired by the new book, Beyond Anxiety. Curiosity, Creativity and Finding Your Life's Purpose by Dr. Martha Beck.

The seeds of nurture culture may be waiting to sprout in the underused right side of our brains. In a culture so heavily dominated by left hemisphere functioning, anxiety disorders have become the most prevalent form of mental illness.

Dr. Beck's book shows clear relationships between anxiety loops and how the left side of the brain interprets and responds to events in the world.

What is less understood is how the other side of our brain responds to the same events in an entirely different way- leading to more creativity and connection instead of control and isolation.

This is where the magic lies and has the potential to not only help us respond to the stressful world we live in but to become agents of powerful cultural change from the roots up!
